St Saviours sold to growing care home group

St Saviours care home in Retford has been bought by Firs Oakmount – with the support of local law firm Shakespeare Martineau.

Previously owned and managed by the Sooriah family, St Saviours is a 58-bedroom facility for the elderly, offering care for those with dementia and physical disabilities.

Firs Oakmount, which also owns and manages The Old Rectory care home in Uttoxeter, purchased St Saviours as part of its growth strategy and has its sights set on further takeovers in the future.

With no redundancies planned as part of the deal, new St Saviours owner Firs Oakmount plans to build upon the care home’s existing positive reputation and community connections.

Jatin Wouhra, managing director at Firs Oakmount, said: “St Saviours is an excellent care home with brilliant facilities, lovely residents and professional, dedicated staff, so it was a no brainer for us to decide to take it on.

“We’re invested in providing the highest quality care for our residents and creating even stronger connections with the community and neighbouring church including fetes, coffee mornings and events.

“We set up our portfolio during the pandemic at an incredibly turbulent time for the sector and as we edge closer to ‘normality’, we are thrilled to be in a position to grow our business and continue important work for the elderly.”

Acting on behalf of Firs Oakmount, Shakespeare Martineau helped negotiate the structure of the deal, conducted due diligence, deal management and advised on borrowing terms, working alongside accountancy firm Mitchells.

Roger Harcourt, partner at Shakespeare Martineau who led the deal, said: “We’re delighted to have been able to support Jatin and his team at Firs Oakmont with this deal.

“It’s great news for the residents of St Saviours and their families to see a high quality provider like Firs Oakmont succeed the Sooriah family, who have been providing excellent care to the people of Retford for so long.

“I know Jatin has exciting plans to build upon their work and that the staff have already bought into his vision.”

At Shakespeare Martineau the deal team included Roger Harcourt, Sam Naunton, Emma Ali, Kate Hall and Oscar Ciaurro.
