Construction work is now underway to deliver new housing on a vacant site in Greenhithe, to be transformed into a new residential neighbourhood.
Bellway Thames Gateway is building 258 new apartments at Crossways Quarter on a 4.8-acre site between St Mary’s Road and Crossways Boulevard, in Greenhithe.
The development will comprise 232 apartments for private sale and 26 affordable properties for local people through rent or shared ownership. There will be a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments across seven apartment buildings at the site.
Tom Sherriff, Managing Director of Bellway Thames Gateway, said: “With work now underway at Crossways Quarter, we have taken a positive step on the way to building the first homes at this new neighbourhood in Greenhithe.
“The development forms a significant contribution to providing much-needed new housing in this part of Kent. We are taking a plot of overgrown grassland and transforming it into a vibrant new community.
“The site will be a sustainable development with a variety of public spaces for the residents to enjoy. A large podium courtyard, accessible via steps from the street level, will offer a green open space for communal relaxation. Green spaces will be created throughout the site and there will be a children’s play area to entertain the younger members of the community.”
