Redrow acquires new site in Maidstone

Part of the wider Bicknor Farm redevelopment, the proposed 302 home scheme has a Gross Development Value in excess of £100 million and will feature 30% affordable homes.

Redrow’s South East division has acquired a 26-acre parcel of land in the south east of Maidstone. With a GDV in excess of £100 million, Redrow is seeking to deliver up to 302 homes. This latest deal expands Redrow’s presence in Kent, with the company currently selling homes at 13 active communities across the county.

The land at Bicknor Farm will be transformed into Monchelsea Park, a collection of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, with 30% of the homes provided being affordable. The houses will be from Redrow’s Heritage Collection, which takes inspiration from 1930s Arts & Craft movement – blending traditional exteriors with bright modern interiors.

Glen Wells, Land Director at Redrow South East, commented: “We are thrilled to have completed the acquisition of this site. Maidstone and the surrounding area are fantastic places to live, with an incredible selection of schools and great connections to London. We previously completed a scheme, The Coppice, on adjacent land and are confident that these latest homes will prove just as popular as our earlier development with particular appeal to growing and established families.”

Monchelsea Park has been designed to achieve high standards of sustainable development in location, housing mix, design and construction. The new homes are set within walking and cycling distance of a range of local schools, shops and public transport connections.

Redrow has acquired the site with planning consent, and a new application has been submitted to secure detailed consent on the proposed 302 home scheme.
