British Gypsum works in partnership with Shiel Developments

Northamptonshire-based Insulated Concrete Framework (ICF) housebuilder, Shiel Developments, has partnered with British Gypsum to specify super strength plasterboard and Magnetic Walls in all of its new homes at Old Mustard Mews in Newport Pagnell.

It is the UK’s first ICF developer to work with British Gypsum’s latest innovations, Gyproc Habito plasterboard and ThistlePro Magnetic plaster. Specialising in Nudura ICF, Shiel Developments embraces modern building methods, sourcing innovative building materials and using the latest technology inside the properties.

Iain Purves, Managing Director of Shiel Developments, said: “We talk about smarter homes and smarter construction and for me that starts with the fabric of our buildings. I founded Shiel Developments based on a philosophy of constructing homes to the highest standards – a partnership with British Gypsum enables us to deliver that philosophy.”

Shiel’s new development, Old Mustard Mews, is a re-development of an old Buckinghamshire factory, blending conversions with new-build homes. Gyproc Habito plasterboard and ThistlePro Magnetic plaster lend themselves both to the renovations and new homes, maximising the character of the original construction whilst using the latest technology to offer modern comforts.

Iain continued: “With every development we’re looking to evolve, developing increasingly better homes. Products like Gyproc Habito and Magnetic Walls enable us to create spaces which are easy to use, ultimately offering a better living experience for our homebuyers.

“It’s a great selling point for us to say every Shiel home is fitted with super-strength, damage-resistant plasterboard. The fact Gyproc Habito can support up to 15kg from one no.10 wood screw gives homeowners the freedom to put things up wherever they want to and, with Magnetic Walls in the kitchens, studies and bedrooms, our homebuyers also discover that their walls can be fun!”

Sarah White, Residential Sector Manager, British Gypsum, added: “Increasingly, forward-thinking housebuilders like Shiel Developments are working with us to go above and beyond traditionally accepted specifications of housebuilding. It’s particularly exciting to partner with developers who want to build beyond the basic Building Regulations and provide their customers with good quality homes.”
