Trade Fabrication Systems (TFS) expands operation to include door pre-machining service, taking more door processing offsite.
The UK’s leading processor of coated and laminated wood-based products, Trade Fabrication Systems (TFS), has expanded its pre-finishing service for doors to include pre-machining, following recent investment in a state-of-the-art door processing machine.
The machine, which was installed in March, can accurately pre-work doors, before they are pre-finished to client specification. Replacing works previously completed onsite, the machine will precision route spaces for lock mortices, hinge plates, letterboxes, viewing slots and numbers or even room names.
Howard Morris, Managing Director at TFS, commented: “At TFS, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to expand our service offering. Understanding how to improve traditional methods within the construction industry, this was the next logical step for us to become the one-stop-shop for timber products and an integral part of the supply chain for builders’ merchants and housebuilders.”
Doors can now arrive on site precision cut, factory finished and protective wrapped, helping to streamline the site sequencing between joinery and finishing trades.
One regional housebuilder who is already using TFS’ pre-finishing paint processes is Melrose Homes. Not only achieving the advantages of site efficiency, TFS’ ability to individually wrap pre-finished doors and deliver to site just-in-time has had a massive impact on the quality finish of the doors.
Howard concluded: “It is important to us that we offer our customers the very best in terms of quality. We can now factory pre-finish to any RAL colour or lacquer, pre-machine, individually wrap and deliver to site just in time, saving the contractor time and money whilst improving overall efficiency.”
