With National Custom and Self-build week taking place between 6th – 12th May, Insulation Express has uncovered the UK cities with the biggest opportunities for those people looking to build their own home.
The results have been collated into a map which highlights the top 30 cities and includes the number of available plots, as well as the average plot price for each city:
The top 5 most expensive cities for self-build plots are revealed as:
- Liverpool – £817,000
- Oxford – £508,333
- Leeds – £388,000
- Portsmouth – £371,250
- Derby – £356,428
*Price was determined by calculating the average price of plots available within the city.
While the top 5 cheapest cities for self-build plots are:
- Inverness – £91,062
- Dundee – £95,000
- Manchester – £112,090
- Salford – £119,833
- Durham – £128,684
According to the company, one in seven of us are currently researching the process of building their own home, with one million Brits planning on building themselves within the next year.
