Barley Meadows in Dawlish, Devon, is a development of 2, 3, and 4-bedroom properties which offers life in a rural setting with a spectacular coastline on its doorstop. The build of this collection of 74 homes was centred around traditional craftsmanship and required fixtures and fittings which echoed this vision.
David Green, development director at Cavanna Homes said the company was keen to select kitchen and bathroom materials which offered longevity, function and performance and Kohler Mira ticked the box.
“It is important that we partner with brands which reflect our own ambitions and standards,” says David. “We are an award-winning business with a reputation of constructing high quality homes and Kohler Mira brings a recognisable reliability and quality which we know customers see a premium in.
“We have been building homes for almost one hundred years and Kohler Mira joins us with a proven track-record and knowledge of the residential market.”
In the contemporary styled bathrooms, the Mira Flight tray in durable resin stone has been installed for style and longevity. The Mira Elevate pivot and bi-fold shower enclosures offer adaptability whether fitted in a larger family bathroom or in an en suite where smaller space needs to be maximised.
The Mira Mode Dual digital shower offers a fully controlled showering experience with the latest in digital technology. Ideal for younger children and older members of the family, the Mode Dual allows you to control the temperature and set a maximum shower duration across two shower heads.
“Buyers expect to see digital technology in new bathrooms,” says David. “We knew that we could rely on Mira to be at the forefront of this technology and we didn’t need to look anywhere else.”
Targeting families looking for that all-important sociable space, the kitchen specification was key to create a pleasant ‘hub of the home’ which was up for the task of bustling family life. Kohler’s stainless-steel kitchen sinks are designed with open-plan living in mind, with SilentShield® sound absorption technology to reduce noise from everyday tasks and create a calmer atmosphere.
Not only highly durable, the Hone undermount stainless steel sink is enhanced with the development’s modern and contemporary design style. The undermount design sits seamlessly under the solid countertops for a continuous design look and feel. The sinks are paired with the Taut Single Lever kitchen tap which offers premium metal construction and ceramic disc valve technology which exceeds industry longevity standards for durability and performance.
“We know a spacious and well-equipped kitchen is a key requirement for our buyers,” continues David. “We needed to show that we had thought about form and function in this busy space and the Kohler sink and tap allowed us to demonstrate this. We all know how noisy a kitchen can get in busy meal and food prep times and the rooms benefit from the technology to reduce noise coupled with a soft yet reliable flow of water.”
Darren Washbrook from Kohler Mira commented: “We really value our relationship with Cavanna Homes and are proud that we have partnered with them for over 15 years. Cavanna has been building homes for almost 100 years and has always remained a forward-thinking housebuilder, recognising the technology and innovation that we work hard to develop.
“Barley Meadows is an excellent example of the quality of build you get with Cavanna. As a business we have partnered and grown with them and it is testament to our relationship that the number of items we supply across all of its planned house builds has increased over the years.”
Cavanna has enjoyed a partnership with Kohler Mira since 2003 when it awarded the specification of showers and trays to Mira. This was followed with enclosures and a refreshed showering offering across all categories. Today, Kohler Mira supplies a wide range of bathroom solutions as well as kitchen sinks and taps across all of Cavanna’s planned house builds, a total of 260 units.
In 2019 Housebuilder Awards awarded Cavanna Medium Housebuilder of the Year, recognising its strong commitment to “building brilliance” and well-designed high-quality new homes.
