Adrian Burr, Managing Director at Springbourne Homes, explains the company’s ethos and reveals the approach it is taking at the housebuilder’s latest luxury development in Wellsborough.
The surge of excitement that comes from standing on a stunning, new site and imagining its potential hits me every time. The only feeling that beats that amazing buzz is the sense of achievement and satisfaction when the potential has been realised.
I’m pleased to look back over 25 years of home building with Springbourne Homes and say I’ve enjoyed both sensations on a regular basis. However, my first glimpse of Hornsey Rise at Wellsborough, in Leicestershire, took everything to a whole new level.
The 10 acre site, set on top of a hill, was a former care home built in 1925 for the NATSOPA Printers’ Union. Members recuperated from illness while enjoying the fresh air and breath-taking scenery, including views across the historic Bosworth Battlefield.
Here I was envisioning a whole new future for the now derelict and dilapidated care home. As a developer/builder it’s always that vision that drives the process – seeing beyond the present and looking forward to how the site can be realised.
Now obviously you can cram far more than 20 homes onto a 10 acre site but that’s never been the ethos of Springbourne Homes. We have built our reputation by acquiring rural, brownfield sites in countryside locations and transforming them into contemporary developments of stylish homes.
Luxury living
That’s because we believe ‘luxury living’ is not just about delivering excellence and elegance within the home, it’s also about providing an enviable environment around it. We value that feeling of space. That air of roominess when you walk through your front door, the uplifting sense of location when you step outside.
We also value working with our clients to ensure their new home is a synergy of ideas and creativity which is all under-scored by our expertise and craftsmanship.
Core theme
At Wellsborough there will be a common theme for the overall appearance of the development, however, we want to offer buyers real flexibility in creating their own unique home by engaging with them from the start.
The first to sign up have the chance to sit with our architect and help design their own home right there on the drawing board. It doesn’t end there because at Springbourne we are prepared to go that extra mile.
Over the years we’ve happily incorporated specialist requirements such as kitchens by Smallbone of Devizes, Bang & Olufsen TV & Audio systems, AGA Ranges, Windhager boilers, Porcelanosa tiles and furniture and Andersen Windows.
Sustainable features
Similarly, green credentials are increasingly in demand and we’ve valuable experience of green roof systems, greywater irrigation and recycling, borehole technology, solar systems and wood pellet heating boilers.
All of that expertise and experience can be exploited by our clients at Wellsborough.
It is the culmination of our 25 years in the industry: our best location, our most exciting development and our most inclusive build. Spacious, bespoke, contemporary homes set on a hill among mature trees and enjoying panoramic views from an idyllic location. Now that’s what I call luxury.
