McCarthy and Stone’s new development, Stukeley Court in Stamford, is looking to set-the-trend for Retirement Living in comfort without compromising on style. The retirement housebuilder has partnered with Edward Thomas Interiors to present a sophisticated living space, exclusively designed for the over-60s.
Edward Thomas Interiors was tasked with creating a look for the new development which fits with the luxury lifestyle on offer at Stukeley Court, and is in keeping with the identity of the historic market town of Stamford.
Andy Richardson, Managing Director of Edward Thomas Interiors, commented: “We have a strong relationship with McCarthy and Stone, and we have enjoyed working with the East Midlands team many times before. Before we start working on designs, we like to visit the development to get a feel for the surrounding area, and talk to local retirees to discover what prospective homeowners may desire in terms of style, and what they need in terms of functionality.”
Soft palette
Aiming to cultivate homely spaces with an elegant feel, Edward Thomas Interiors developed a palette of soft duck egg greens, with accents of warm reds, and selected charming antiques for a contemporary style with a traditional twist.
Andy continued: “At Stukeley Court we really wanted to create spaces which people could aspire to and attain for themselves once moved in. Quintessentially English in style, rooms are linked through various subtle touches for continuity, and statement pieces act as focal points, drawing people in as they explore the apartment.
“We have included antique pieces of furniture to show potential residents how they can bring pieces from their existing homes in to a new build, and for it to work really well.”
Andy and his team specialise in quality bespoke work, and sought to reflect the individuality of the homeowners through unique features crafted especially for Stukeley Court – such as bespoke upholstery and headboards.
“We have included antique pieces of furniture to show potential residents how they can bring pieces from their existing homes in to a new build, and for it to work really well.”
Andy continued: “Designing for retirement requires a great attention to detail. Looking around the apartment, you would not assume they are for Retirement Living, but everything has been thoughtfully hand-picked to ensure homeowners can enjoy their apartments to the full. All the spaces are stylish, elegant and timeless.”
Modern independent living
Situated in the picturesque Lincolnshire town of Stamford and close to local amenities, Stukeley Court features an exclusive collection of 35 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments. The development offers the best in modern independent living within a safe and secure environment, plus the chance to socialise and join in with a range of events and activities. Purchasers can also take the hassle out of downsizing by using McCarthy and Stone’s Part Exchange scheme.
Cheryl Bissett, Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone East Midlands, commented: “All our homeowners can be confident they are getting the very best, as we have recently been awarded a 5 star customer satisfaction rating from the Home Builders Federation for the 11th year running.”
Facilities at Stukeley Court include a computer room, a homeowners’ lounge ideal for socialising with friends, and landscaped gardens in which to relax, as well as a guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay. The development also benefits from having its own House Manager, a security entrance system, plus 24-hour emergency call points.
