Bellway Kent has welcomed house-hunters to its Oxenden Park development in Herne Bay for the first time.
The housebuilder opened the doors to a sales office at the site, where it is delivering 450 new homes, in October.
Oxenden Park will comprise 315 properties for private sale and 135 affordable homes for local people through rent or shared ownership. The mix of homes at the 57-acre site off Greenhill Road will feature one and two-bedroom apartments and two to four-bedroom houses.
Mark Harrop, Sales Director at Bellway Kent, said: “Now we have a sales office open at Oxenden Park, our team will be on hand to answer any questions potential purchasers may have about the new homes being built or about the site itself.
“There has been a great deal of interest in the new homes we are delivering at Oxenden Park, so it is good to be able to release the first new homes for sale.
“The launch weekend was very busy and we anticipate that the level of demand for these properties will only increase now that people can come down and see the location of the site and how it fits in with the local area.”
As part of the planning agreement for Oxenden Park, Bellway will invest £3.5 million in local services which will include contributions towards medical facilities and schools as well as funding to support measures aimed at reducing disturbance to wintering birds in wetland areas of North Kent.
The development itself will feature a series of public open spaces, allotments, and new sports pitches and playing fields for neighbouring Briary Primary School.
Bellway Kent has also teamed up with the school to turn a neglected vegetable garden, which had become unsafe after being unattended during lockdown, into an outdoor learning space. Site staff worked with contractors to complete the transformation.
Mark said: “Construction work is progressing well at Oxenden Park and we are on schedule to have the first homes ready for the first new residents to receive their keys in spring 2023. The plan is to back this progress up with being able to open the doors to the first showhome on the development at about this time as well.
“This is a great development in a truly fantastic location, in a beautiful Kentish seaside town just a short drive from wonderful Herne Bay beach. We are confident that Oxenden Park will be attractive to a wide range of buyers, particularly families.”
