Work has started on a former quarry site in Swanscombe to prepare the way for the construction of 233 new homes.
Bellway intends to build the new homes on the former Croxton and Garry Quarry site, with revised proposals for the development – which already has detailed planning permission – currently under consideration by the local planning authority.
With demand for new homes in the area running high, the housebuilder is set to release the first homes for sale off plan this summer once planning approval is secured.
The development, to be accessed off Tiltman Avenue, will form the second phase of Bellway’s Ebbsfleet Cross, which has delivered 100 homes in the first phase, on a neighbouring site off Craylands Lane.
Emma Hamlett, Sales Director of Bellway Thames Gateway, said: “We’ve had an overwhelming response from buyers at Ebbsfleet Cross so far with the first phase selling much faster than anticipated due to both the build quality and location on offer here.
“The homes in this new, larger phase will continue to follow the same successful blueprint from the first phase. There will be a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom properties that will make ideal starter homes for young couples while the larger four-bedroom houses will suit families looking for more room to grow.
“I know there were many potential buyers that were disappointed to miss out on homes in the first phase at Ebbsfleet Cross so we hope we’ll be in a position this summer to release the first properties for sale from the second phase.”
The 233 new homes being built in the second phase include a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses. A total of 163 homes will be sold on the open market, while the remaining 70 properties will be available as affordable housing through shared ownership or rent.
With groundworks underway, Bellway will be launching the second phase of homes on Saurday 17th July. Visits to the development will be by appointment only and can be booked by contacting the sales team.
