Gleeson Homes has launched an exciting new housing development in County Durham, bringing 87 affordable, quality homes to the area.
The first phase of homes at Greencroft View, in Annfield Plain were released just before the Christmas break with a second phase released on Friday 15th of January.
With prices from £120,995 for a three-bedroom home, Greencroft View has already proved to be highly desirable for local people, especially amongst first-time buyers and young families, with 80% of homes released reserved within a matter of days.
The Government backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme, which is available on the developments ensures that many of the homes cost less than local rent levels. Further homes will be released for sale throughout 2021, with the first homeowners expected to move in this Spring.
Throughout the duration of the build, Gleeson will be creating many employment opportunities for local people and sub-contractors in the area and will be contributing a total £87,000 towards nearby public open spaces, helping to build communities and opportunities for local people.
Ed Alder, Operations Director at Gleeson said: “We are delighted to be bringing these much-needed new homes to County Durham, an area where we have seen great success providing our traditionally built, affordable homes. At the heart of the community, our new homes at Greencroft View will serve local people, including young, first time buyers and low to mid income families, giving young people the opportunity to make their first steps onto the property ladder.
“Gleeson builds homes that are genuinely affordable, providing customers with the opportunity for wealth creation through home ownership. 86% of our customers are first time buyers, with three out of four of all buyers being under the age of 35. “
Gleeson’s flagship development in County Durham, Middlestone Meadows located in Spennymoor, has also seen huge investment by the housebuilder. A development of 333 homes, Middlestone Meadows has four show homes, a large sales centre and the Company’s first Centre of Excellence. The Centre of Excellence will primarily be used as a training delivery centre, strengthening the skills of Gleeson employees and sub-contractors in the area, synergising with Gleeson’s push on facilitating training and development opportunities for all employees across the business.
Alder continued: “Free from the usual daily distractions, noise and elements which are usually encountered on a site, our Centre of Excellence at Middlestone Meadows has been positively received by all users and has undoubtably contributed to better quality on site, along with enhanced working by site operatives, whilst developing the skills of our talented team, following our recent achievement of becoming a five-star housebuilder.”
