Half of the private homes at a new housing development taking shape on a former hotel site in South Marston have now been built.
Bellway is delivering a total of 70 homes at Vicarage Gardens, off Old Vicarage Lane, including 65 houses for private sale and five affordable homes for rent or shared ownership.
The housebuilder has completed construction work on 30 private properties at the site, and 24 of these are now occupied.
Vicarage Gardens is transforming the former South Marston Hotel site, and features a range of two, three and four-bedroom houses for sale.
The development launched to the public in February last year, and work is due to come to an end next spring.
Christel Hawkins, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said: “Vicarage Gardens has generated a sustained level of interest ever since construction work got underway, and 45 of the 65 private homes have now been sold. The site is well-known locally due to its previous use, it benefits from an attractive village location, and offers a wide selection of house sizes and designs.
“Among the homes available at the development is The Vicarage, a unique four-bedroom detached property which has been designed in the style of the old vicarage building which previously stood on the site.
“While reflecting the architectural character of its predecessor, The Vicarage also features a high- quality specification and modern interiors, with a contemporary open-plan kitchen and family area, separate living room, dining room and study.”
Bellway is providing funding of £600,000 for local services as part of the planning agreement for the development. This includes contributions towards primary education, facilities for outdoor sports, allotments, bus services and the enhancement of Nightingale Wood wildlife site.
Prices at Vicarage Gardens currently start at £292,995 for a three-bedroom semi-detached home. The four-bedroom detached Vicarage house type is priced at £767,500.
