CALA Homes has received planning permission for 111 and 261 new homes at Waterbeach and Alconbury Weald respectively.
Waterbeach is a new 6,500-home community brought forward by Urban&Civic. It is a former barracks and airfield which will transform into a new town. The 111 new homes delivered by CALA will include apartments and houses which have been designed to comply with the approved Regulatory Plan and Framework Design Code that formed part of the outline planning permission at Waterbeach.
Alconbury Weald is another former barracks and airfield which is just a 30-minute drive from Waterbeach. CALA Homes will deliver a mix of properties – from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom houses. Urban&Civic’s is driving forward the masterplan for the area, which will see it welcome 6,500 new homes, new primary and secondary schools, employment space, a new railway station, community facilities and 608 acres of woodland and green space.

Receiving approval to progress the two sites so quickly is a testament to the strength of the relationship between CALA and Urban&Civic – who have worked collaboratively to move Waterbeach and Alconbury Weald forward.
“We’re expecting to be onsite at Alconbury Weald in January, and Waterbeach in March 2022.”
