Deputy Mayor breaks ground in Hounslow

Countryside to build 284 new homes and a new primary school in the London Borough of Hounslow.

Countryside, together with Jerram Falkus Construction, has begun work on a new five form entry primary school and 284 new homes on the Hounslow Town Primary school site.

The 2.67 hectare site will be redeveloped, including a brand new five form entry primary school and 284 mixed-tenure homes, of which 50% will be affordable housing. Countryside will be the overall housebuilder and Network Homes will own and manage the affordable homes.

The new school will provide 1,200 much needed school places in the Borough.

To mark the occasion, a ground-breaking event took place on 15 June 2017, attended by key parties involved in the project, including senior members of Countryside and partners Network Homes, Greater London Authority, James Murray, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development at City Hall, Cllr Curran of Hounslow Council and Chris Hill, Headteacher of Hounslow Town Primary School.

Speaking about the start of work on site, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, James Murray, said: “It is great to be working with Hounslow and its partners to build a new school alongside nearly 300 new homes, and I am pleased that together the Council and City Hall have been able to make sure half of the homes will be affordable to rent and buy.”

Graham Cherry, Chief Executive at Countryside Partnerships South commented: “We were delighted to be joined by the Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development at City Hall and Cllr Curran of Hounslow Council to officially mark the start of work at Hounslow Town Primary School site. The regeneration of the town centre has been a high priority for the Council and local residents for many years and we are delighted to work alongside them in delivering an exceptional scheme that will benefit the whole community. It is Countryside’s mission to create places people love and this development will offer a great place for modern family living, including good quality homes and essential school places.”
