The Axminster-based agricultural and landscaping contractor has invested in the top of the range JCB backhoe after retiring its previous model following 10 years’ service. Supplied by Holt JCB, Newenham Agri’s latest 4CX ECO model comes complete with Engcon EC209 tiltrotator package and controls.
The result is a high mobility, multi-purpose machine which has revolutionised operations for the customer across services including: grading, trenching, Devon bank hedging (a form of field boundary native to the county), hedge laying, backfills, trenching for utilities and site landscaping for new builds.
Newenham Agri owner and machine operator, Paul Burrough, said: “The JCB 4CX has proven to be a reliable and rugged machine that can carry out all the applications we need, so once we experienced JCB there was no going back. This latest model takes it to a whole new level – there are no limits to what I can achieve with it.
“Growing up around diggers, operators used to tell me that the rear boom should be an extension of your arm. The addition of the tiltrotator truly brings that analogy to life with even greater control and flexibility. The Engcon controls, and the ability to drive the machine when facing in either direction, makes an amazing difference to productivity too, particularly on jobs such as Devon bank hedging. Ease of servicing, 4-wheel steer, the fast and smooth Advanced Easy Controls and powerful front shovel for lifting all make this a first-class machine. JCB is a wonderful British brand and the service from our dealer Holt JCB has been exemplary.”
Experienced in all aspects of land and woodland management, Axminster-based Newenham Agri offers custom agricultural work, large scale landscaping and groundworks as well as the sale of hay, straw, logs and silage from its 350-acre Devon farm.
