North Yorks top new build chart

Research by peer-to-peer real estate investment platform, easyMoney, has revealed that North Yorkshire is the UK’s top spot for new-build residential property investment. This finding is based on the number of new homes that started construction in the last year.

Across England, 177,200 new homes started construction in 2022. The South East region took the lead with 31,680 new homes. The East of England, East Midlands, South West, and London also saw substantial new-build market activity, each starting construction on more than 20,000 new homes.

Yet, when breaking down new build activity by local authority areas, North Yorkshire topped the chart. It had the highest number of new homes starting construction at 2,310. Other areas with more than 2,000 new homes starting construction include Greenwich, North Northamptonshire, Central Bedfordshire, and Wiltshire.

Additional areas in the top 10 include Cornwall, East Riding of Yorkshire, Cheshire East, Leeds, and Milton Keynes, all showing robust new-build activity.

By contrast, the local authorities of Ipswich, Portsmouth, and Sutton had the least new-build activity in 2022, with only 20 new homes started.
