L&Q will partner with the Anderson Group to develop 600 new homes on the former site of Erith Quarry.
The project, which has just broken ground, will see £300 million invested in the 55 acre site over six years, including the building of a new 700 capacity primary school.
The Anderson Group purchased the former Erith Quarry site in 2013 with a view to regenerating the land into a vibrant and sustainable community. The company has now partnered with L&Q, one of London’s leading residential developers, to enable the vision to become a reality. The site will now become a family residential development, balanced by leisure and ecological parkland, and a landmark new school.
Andrew Jay, Group Managing Director at the Anderson Group, comments: “We are dedicated to bringing life to lost land through responsible development and this project is no exception. Erith Quarry presented us with the perfect opportunity to create a thriving community on a site which is currently completely desolate.”
Jerome Geoghegan, Group Director of Development and Sales at L&Q, commented: “We are delighted to have partnered with the Anderson Group to deliver this new vision for the former Erith Quarry. These proposals, together with our recent planning approval for the development of 77 new homes at the site of the Former Riverside Baths, will transform the area and create an exciting new place in Erith.”
A careful balance between development and ecology is amongst the priorities for the site and it retains large areas of existing green space, mature trees and footpaths. It also includes play areas for children, new plantings of trees and shrubs and generous gardens for family homes.
