Contractor Thomas Sinden has been awarded its fourth contract from The Freshwater Group of Companies for a development in Clapham.
The £3.7 million Permitted Development Scheme involves the alteration and refurbishment of existing offices on the first floor to fifth-floor level into 35, one- and two-bedroom apartments and studios, together with associated parking, refuse storage, amenity space and landscaping.
Graeme Sinden, Director of Thomas Sinden commented: “We are delighted to have won our fourth contract in four years from The Freshwater Group, following on the back of successful schemes at Cecil Court, River Front and Eden Parade in Beckenham, Kent which is currently under construction.
“This latest scheme allows a former under used office building to be converted into homes which are greatly needed in this part of London. We will be starting on site in the next few months and work is expected to last 44 weeks.”
The scheme has been designed by DLA Architecture Ltd, with Castle Construction Consultants as Employers Agents and Total Property Solutions as Project Managers.
One of the company’s previous developments, Cecil Court saw the conversion of 1950s ex-council offices on London Road in Enfield into 42 one- and two-bedroom apartments. The £4.2 million project also included the structural alteration, window replacement and external fabric repairs over a 55-week period.
River Front in Enfield was a £2.8 million Permitted Development Scheme, which saw the creation of 25, one- and two-bedroom apartments.
