Topping out ceremony brings Newark and Sherwood care homes closer to completion.
A development which will provide housing for people with care needs in Newark and Sherwood is one step closer to completion, following a topping out ceremony held by contractor Henry Boot Construction Limited.
Gladstone House, a scheme on Bowbridge Road, will comprise 60 purpose-built units over three levels, including 40 extra care apartments. Facilities will also include communal areas, rooms designated for activities, a sensory garden and a commercial kitchen.
Newark and Sherwood Homes, Newark and Sherwood District Council and Nottinghamshire County Council are working in partnership along with the Homes and Community Agency to deliver the flagship development. The scheme is the result of a successful bid for £1.5m of funding from the Department of Health’s Extra Care and Support Programme, administered by the HCA, and funding from both councils.
Rebecca Rance, chief executive at Newark and Sherwood Homes, said: “We are delighted to have achieved this milestone, marking the completion of the building’s roof and are pleased that the development is progressing to schedule.”
Gladstone House is on course for completion by the end of the year
