Lovell set to bring 50 homes to King’s Lynn

The Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk has appointed partnership housing developer Lovell for the £6.5 million next phase of a major development in King’s Lynn.

The company will start work in September 2017 on 50 new houses being built as part of the Nar Ouse Regeneration Area (NORA) project. Launched by the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk in partnership with Norfolk County Council, the project will regenerate brownfield land to the south of the town centre.

In its latest phase, Lovell will build 50 two-, three- and four-bedroom houses – 42 for open market sale and eight rented and shared ownership homes – on land off Wisbech Road. Scheduled for completion in early 2019, the properties – designed by Hamson Barron Smith – will benefit from high levels of energy-efficiency (equivalent to levels 3 and 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes), helping keep residents’ energy bills down.

The NORA programme has already delivered more than 100 homes on the Nar Valley Park site, with half of these marketed through the Government-backed Help-to-Buy scheme which is available to first-time buyers and existing owners.

Lovell regional managing director Simon Medler says: “We are excited to be continuing our strong partnership with the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk through the company’s appointment to the next phase of the highly successful NORA programme. This is an important scheme which has brought new life to brownfield land and is answering the urgent demand for high-quality, modern and energy-efficient new homes locally.”
