Kier begins work at Silver Fields in Northamptonshire

Work begins at Kier Living Eastern’s Silver Fields development in Raunds, Northamptonshire.

The first turf has been cut at Silver Fields, a new development of 94 homes from Kier Living Eastern in Raunds, Northamptonshire.

Kier’s planning manager Hollie Howe, development sales manager Rhiannon Jones, marketing co-ordinator Caroline Major and development manager Neil Sperrin were on hand to officially launch the start of the works. Work commenced following the completion of an intensive dig by a team from the Museum of London Archaeology, during which it was established that a medieval settlement had once been on the site.

Their findings included a silver penny from the 1100s, after which the development has been named. Excavations also uncovered a collection of musket balls and a copper ring. Detailed plans are now being drawn up to preserve the archaeologists’ findings for future generations. Kier Living Eastern managing director Nick Moore said: “The turf cutting at Raunds signals the start of a fantastic new development, one of which we’re extremely proud. We’re sure the work will go smoothly and quickly, and will look forward to welcoming residents to this new community.”

The new homes at Silver Fields range between two and four bedrooms, with eight house types on offer. For more information, visit www.kierliving.co.uk
