Jones Homes is building seven starter homes at its Walton Meadows scheme in Walton le Dale, Preston.
The homes at Walton Meadows, in Duddle Lane, are being sold at 80 per cent of the usual market value. Five discounted homes are currently available to local people who meet qualifying criteria. Walton Meadows comprises of 26 properties.
Carol Barlow, Sales Director for Jones Homes Lancashire, said: “Starter homes are an increasingly popular and effective way for local authorities and developers to work together to help local first-time buyers. The seven starter homes at Walton Meadows will make a significant contribution to the affordable housing stock in the village.
“The homes are two-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom houses. They fit seamlessly within the street scene at Walton Meadows and are built to the same exacting standards of quality and design as every Jones Homes property.”
Purchasers will need to meet criteria set by South Ribble Borough Council, demonstrating that they have strong links to the area and could not afford to buy a home on the open market. When the discounted homes are resold in the future, they will be priced at 20 per cent below market value at the time.
