Higgins Partnerships has been granted planning for the regeneration of council owned land in Garratt Lane, Earlsfield to provide 193 flats and houses.
The development will deliver 105 private sale homes, 65 Shared Ownership and 23 social rent properties. In addition, four commercial units will be built, a new pharmacy and the replacement of Brocklebank Health Centre with a larger brand new health centre which will be located on the corner of Swaffield Road and Garratt Lane, as part of an agreement with the NHS.
Steve Boreham, Construction Director for Higgins Partnerships comments, “We are pleased to have been granted planning and look forward to starting on site in the coming months to deliver these new homes, which will provide much needed affordable housing for the local area.
“We will be also working alongside Higgins Homes, who will be marketing the private sale and Shared Ownership homes. In addition, the larger brand new health centre will be a fantastic asset for the local community.”
Wandsworth Council leader Ravi Govindia said: “This represents another key element in our plans to revitalise and improve this part of Garratt Lane.
“The land in question is currently occupied by a number of unattractive 1950s and 60s council-owned buildings and their replacement with smart, high-quality homes will not only help revitalise the area, but also improve the visual amenity of these streets by restoring parts of the historic street pattern. I am particularly pleased that the existing medical centre will continue to operate until the new one is completed – guaranteeing uninterrupted service to residents during the construction period.”
The new scheme has been designed by Broadway Malyan and PTE Architects as the concept Architects and Working Drawings Architects.
