The developer behind new homes in Barnstaple is keen to acquire additional land across Devon to satisfy demand.
Elan Homes has sold all 57 properties in the first phase of its Pickards at Larkbear scheme, part of the urban expansion of the Devon town, with plans for a further 59 homes. They are part of a wider 820-home new neighbourhood being developed across a 58 acre site, off Old Torrington Road.
Independent homebuilder Elan is keen to acquire additional land across the county to help further boost housing supply.
Elan’s Regional Head of Land Ben Jowett said: “Homebuilding has an important role to play in the economy – providing housing and employment, boosting investment in communities and generating income for local authorities in the form of council tax receipts. The Government is targeting 300,000 new homes a year nationwide and at Elan we’re proud to be helping contribute towards that figure by providing the homes buyers want and need.
“We’ve developed a reputation for building quality homes in desirable areas, having previously built new homes in South Molton, with high demand at Pickards at Larkbear. We are looking to continue our presence in the North Devon area and would be keen to hear of new potential residential opportunities from landowners.”
Elan will consider sites of various sizes – the majority of its sites are of 30-50 homes, but its most intimate development features just six executive family homes.
Ben continued: “We’ll consider land with, or without, planning permission, including sites occupied with derelict or underused buildings which offer potential for residential development. We have a proven track record of working with land owners, local authorities, industrial operators, land promoters and other stakeholders to progress schemes, appraising the local market and assessing who would want to live there, and why, before planning a bespoke development to address housing need in that particular area.”
