Niche developer secures planning consent to build 14 homes in Wilmslow.
Elan Homes has secured consent to build 10 substantial detached homes, plus four affordable bungalows at a former garden centre in Wilmslow.
Andrew Morgan, land director for Elan Homes in the North, said: “Identifying and acquiring land in the most desirable neighbourhoods is key to the growth of our business as location is a key factor when people are looking for a new home. Situated in the Cheshire ‘golden triangle’, Wilmslow is one of the most sought-after places to live not just in the North West, but across the country.
“We were keen to acquire land in the area and the former garden centre site presented the perfect opportunity. In drawing up the plans for the development we carefully considered the local market and who would want to live here, creating bespoke homes designed specifically to be sympathetic to existing properties in the neighbourhood.”
The garden centre that had occupied the site ceased trading in April 2014 and the new homes will see the land brought back into use, while also making a significant contribution to the local economy. For example, the scheme will create employment opportunities during the construction process and enable a landscape business to relocate from the site as part of their expansion plans.
As part of its development plans, Elan has agreed to invest £42,000 in public open space, with a further £10,000 allocated for recreational open space. Secondary education will benefit from an investment of more than £32,000.
Work is due to start imminently to prepare the site for the new homes.
