The final homes have been completed at a new housing development close to the centre of Lincoln.
After six years of construction work at the site, Chestnut Homes has put the finishing touches to its LN6 development off Westbrooke Road.
During that time, the Lincolnshire housebuilder has delivered 131 new homes and provided an investment of more than £170,000 in local services.
Large areas of green open space and a boardwalk have also been created as part of the new neighbourhood.
LN6 has been constructed in four phases, with work beginning on the last phase of 24 homes in February last year. All the properties for sale have now been purchased and buyers are due to move into the final homes in June.
Helene Key, Sales Manager for Chestnut Homes, said: “The completion of the final homes at LN6 marks the end of an era for us at this flagship development close to the centre of Lincoln.
“We are immensely proud of the new neighbourhood we have created and are pleased to be leaving a lasting legacy in the form of new homes, green spaces and a major investment in local services and infrastructure.
“LN6 has attracted a broad spectrum of buyers both from the city and further afield and it’s been a pleasure to witness a thriving community beginning to form. We hope our residents many happy and fulfilling years here.”
As part of the planning agreement for LN6, Chestnut Homes has provided funding of £80,974 for education, £36,440 towards playing fields and children’s play areas in the city, and £11,150 for a travel plan for new residents.
An additional payment of £42,133 has been made to the City of Lincoln Council in the form of a Community Infrastructure Levy.
Among those to purchase a home at LN6 are first-time buyers Sam Clark and Cassie Rothwell, both 28, who received the keys to their new three-bedroom house last October.
The couple were won over by the central location of the development and say both the house and area are perfect for starting a family in.
Cassie said: “Looking to the future, there are lots of good schools and nurseries within walking distance of the development and there are great transport links to the rest of the city. We are so close to the centre – we can even see the cathedral from our street!”
The location was also a major draw for fellow first-time buyers Emma Green, 22, and her fiancé Sam Frith, 22, who purchased their two-bedroom semi-detached property last March.
Emma is just a half an hour’s walk from her office in Lincoln where she works as an insurance representative and a 10-minute walk from her parents’ house.
She said: “The homes are all well spread out, and there are lots of swales and green areas. You can tell it is all very well maintained. You really do forget that you’re in the middle of a city.”
For house-hunters who missed out on a home at LN6, Chestnut Homes is continuing to build at developments across Lincolnshire, including Manor Farm in Bardney and The Meadows in Dunholme.
