Bellway submits plans for 152 new homes in Llanwern

A new phase of homes is set to be built at Llanwern near Newport, after a land deal was finalised by housebuilder Bellway.

The company, which is currently building new homes at Monks Meadow, off Queensway, has now bought a new parcel of land within this growing neighbourhood. A reserved matters planning application for a development of 152 new homes – which will be known as Heron’s Mead – has been submitted to Newport City Council.

The new homes form part of the regeneration of the former Llanwern steelworks site, with outline permission for the overall development granted in 2010.

Billie Oaten, Sales Director for Bellway Wales, said: “We are delighted to have acquired a new parcel of land at Llanwern and hope our detailed plans will be approved by the local planning authority.

“There’s a growing need for new homes in the Newport area and we’ve carefully designed this new phase of development to meet the requirements of local buyers, whether they’re first-time buyers, downsizers or growing families.”

Bellway’s plans for Heron’s Mead include two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, plus a selection of apartments and houses designated as affordable housing for local people. Children’s play areas are also included in the proposals.
