Hayfield has announced that 2021 was a record year after increasing its development rate by 76% year-on-year.
The company, which mainly builds its homes in the Home Counties, completed 222 units in 2021 – its most in a single year – up from 154 in 2020.
Hayfield also has a strong pipeline, with 400 homes currently under construction, a further 400 with planning permission and 1,000 going through the planning process with local authorities.
Mark Booth, co-founder of Hayfield, said: “2020 was difficult for all housebuilders, with development paused on sites at the height of Covid-19, but we have more than bounced back and enjoyed our strongest year to date.
“We have a clear, differentiated position in the market, building premium family homes in some of the most desirable parts of the country, along with a partnership model with our sister businesses. Demand for our houses was strong throughout 2021 and, importantly, this has held up after the end of support measures such as the chancellor’s stamp duty holiday.
“2021 was also the year the idea of truly sustainable homes came of age. Government policy and consumer expectations have coalesced round the need for houses to decarbonise. All our homes have heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points fitted as standard and for us it’s imperative that these modifications are built in from the very start.”
