Residents have moved into their new houses after the keys to affordable homes at Kilnwood in Kingsteignton were handed over by Tiverton based developer Devonshire Homes to housing association DCH.
Teignbridge District Council’s Executive Member for Planning and Housing, Cllr Humphrey Clemens attended the handover and said: “I’m pleased to see that ten affordable homes have been built in this development. Providing homes, which residents need and can afford to live in, is a priority for Teignbridge. We’re helping to provide the homes local people want.”
All the houses, which are a mixture of one bed flats and two and three bedroom homes, plus one four bedroom property, are now completed with most occupied. Three were low cost homes for shared ownership with the remaining seven being managed by DCH. The Association’s Development Director, Gareth Jones said: “Having successfully worked with Devonshire Homes on other opportunities, we were delighted to work alongside them again and ensure the delivery of the much needed affordable homes for the people of Teignbridge.”
In addition to the ten affordable homes, sixteen open market homes are occupied and the remaining properties on this 40 unit development under construction. An open day is planned in April to showcase the remaining 14 units on the final phase of the scheme.
Devonshire homes Managing Director, Steve Russell said: “I’m delighted to see the affordable homes occupied at Kilnwood and we’ve worked closely with Teignbridge District Council and DCH to provide these new homes. In addition to providing the affordable homes to DCH, we are working hard on the final phase of open market homes which have now been released for sale.”
