The homebuilder behind two successful developments in Worcestershire is appealing for land to help meet demand, tackle the housing shortage and boost the economy.
Elan Homes has sold the final home at its Stableford development just two miles from Worcester city centre, while eager buyers are making “early bird” reservations on properties not yet released at its latest development in the county, Three Js in Abberley.
The company is in the market for additional land across Worcestershire and beyond with development potential.
David Summers, managing director for Elan Homes Midlands, said: “The success we’ve seen at Stableford is an indicator of how buoyant the housing market in Worcestershire is – we secured nine sales in just two weeks earlier this year and have now sold the final homes months ahead of schedule. Over at Abberley, were sales launched in March, we’ve taken our first few reservations and are taking early bird reservations from buyers keen to secure homes further on in the build programme.
“We’re keen to ensure there’s a future housing supply across Worcestershire and the wider region, which is why we remain committed to acquiring new sites. This is crucial if we’re to continue to provide homes people will love living in now and in the future.”
At Stableford, on the site of the former Tolladine Golf Course, Elan has created a 61-home development. The scheme has provided 24 affordable homes to meet local housing needs and 37 private sale properties.
It’s also seen Elan invest in the local area including paying almost £115,000 to Worcester City Council towards sports facilities and allotments, with a new play area created as part of the development.
At Three Js, Elan is building 26 homes – including six affordable homes and 20 private sale properties – on a 3.6 acre site on Clows Top Road,
Around 40% of the site will be green open space, with Elan also committed to investing more than £50,000 towards public open space. Further funding will be invested in the NHS and affordable housing.
“The housing and construction industries have a pivotal role to play in the country’s long-term economic recovery in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic,” David added.
“Along with providing new homes, housing developments also generate wider economic investment in facilities and offer further employment opportunities within the supply chain. We’re keen to speak with landowners and their representatives to understand where we could unlock development potential and contribute to targets for delivering new homes.”
Elan’s previous Worcestershire developments include Merrybrook Grange in Evesham, Derrington Mews in Kempsey and more recently Walcot Meadow in Drakes Broughton.
