Mayor of London seeks housing leaders to accelerate delivery on public land.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, is set to launch the procurement process for a new London Development Panel (LDP) as part of his ongoing efforts to significantly increase housing delivery on publicly-owned land in the capital.
The LDP will consist of up to 30 prominent developers and contractors and will be a resource for the capital’s public sector landowners in order to speed up the pace of housing delivery on public land over the next four years.
James Murray, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, said: “The Mayor has been very clear that significantly increasing the supply of genuinely affordable homes is a top priority, and that speeding up development on public land would be central to these efforts.
“To help us achieve that, the new London Development Panel will gather together a pool of the capital’s expertise in this area to identify and develop suitable sites across the city.
“London’s housing crisis won’t be fixed overnight but the panel and its expertise will be a crucial tool in our efforts to build more of the genuinely affordable housing Londoners so urgently need.”
The procurement process will be open to all and bids are encouraged from organisations with a track record in delivering private sale, affordable and purpose-built private rented homes.
