Old Pump House, a Newland Homes development in Bristol, has won an award for high standards of construction and site management.
Old Pump House on Bishopsworth Road in Bedminster Down has been awarded The Bricks Development of the Year South award by LABC Warranty, in the 51 to 100 homes category. The accolade recognises the high standards of workmanship and overall management of the site, including health and safety matters.
LABC Warranty is one of the largest providers of structural warranties in the UK. Working in partnership with Local Authority Building Control (LABC), its combined team of more than 3,700 surveyors work with house builders, contractors and housing associations. Sites are scored by LABC Warranty risk management surveyors during their inspection visits, which take place regularly through construction.
In October 2020 Old Pump House received the Bricks Site Recognition Award, which meant the development went head-to-head with other monthly winners through 2020 to be awarded the top title of Development of the Year; one of the construction industry’s most prestigious awards given to outstanding sites from England and Wales.
Old Pump House is a collection of contemporary, urban houses and apartments, built with quality and sustainability in mind. Properties come with Solar PV panels, cycle storage and fibre broadband provision, a prerequisite for working from home. One and two bedroom apartments, plus three and four bedroom homes, are available to reserve now at Old Pump House, with prices starting from £250,000.
Ian Hughes, Associate Construction Director at Newland Homes said: “This is a significant achievement and recognises the hard work of our site manager Mark Holden and the whole team at Newland Homes. Awards like this really are the sum total of everyone’s input, and this high praise and recognition from an independent body provides reassurance of the exceptional build quality of all our homes.”
Newland Homes has a policy of sourcing local labour for each of its development sites and supporting local businesses and individuals to prosper. Contractors for Old Pump House were recruited within a five-mile radius of Bristol where possible, as a tangible and direct method of investing in the communities where the company is developing.
Sarah Sheppard, Technical Director at LABC Warranty, said: “It takes skill, commitment and a dedication to quality of construction for a site to receive The Bricks annual award. Nothing pleases my team and I more than to see developments meet and maintain such high standards.”
