Idom Merebrook, a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, has reported 100% growth in their housing division since 2010.
The number of projects undertaken with housing developers over the past six years has doubled, the company says, now accounting for approximately 47% of the consultancy’s total turnover. In 2010, Idom’s housing turnover was £1.35 million. This had increased to £2.57 million last year and is forecast to increase further this year, generated through working with major developers whose combined spend has risen by 49% over the period.
Although the number of new clients in Idom’s housing portfolio has grown steadily over the six-year period, increasing by 38% percent since 2010 – it does not account for such a significant increase in the overall turnover. The real growth, the company says, has come not from winning contracts with new clients, but from working more closely and doing more for their existing housing client base.
Nigel Huish, Managing Director, Idom Merebrook commented: “The statistics show two things; firstly as a consultancy we are comfortably in line with the steady growth being experienced by the industry as a whole. Additionally, while we are steadily expanding our client portfolio, our main area of growth has come through providing a wider range of services to our existing and longer standing clients on bigger projects.
“Our good growth performance has been enhanced by greater accessibility to more challenging brownfield sites identified for residential development. Our expertise in the remediation and the restoration of brownfield sites has become increasing sought after, as developers constantly require more innovative solutions to regenerate derelict sites and contaminated land.”
