Multidisciplinary engineering consultancy Harley Haddow has appointed Scott Murray to lead the launch of its new Bristol office, supporting continued national growth of the 75-year-old business.
Scott brings more than 25 years’ experience in mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) engineering, with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency, sustainability, and carbon reduction within the built environment He has worked across heritage refurbishments, urban regeneration, large-scale residential masterplans and commercial developments across the UK.
Rooted in Bristol, Scott will be responsible for establishing and growing Harley Haddow’s South West operation, working closely with clients and the wider practice to deliver technically robust, sustainably led and commercially viable projects.
The Bristol office opening is a key pillar in Harley Haddow’s expansion. Founded in 1950 in Scotland, the business now has offices in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fort William and Inverness. The move into the South West is part of a long-term plan to offer a complete suite of engineering services to customers across the country.
The launch also comes at a pivotal time for the region, with significant opportunities emerging across retrofit and refurbishment, life sciences, research facilities and advanced manufacturing.
Scott Murray said: “Bristol is a city with a strong creative and sustainable identity that aligns closely with Harley Haddow’s values. Harley Haddow has clear ambitions for the future and this dynamism and forward-thinking mindset really matches that of the city and the South West business community.
“One of the biggest challenges facing our industry is closing the gap between net zero ambition and deliverable action. That means simplifying processes, working more collaboratively and integrating digital tools in ways that support the commercial viability of projects. Those conversations need to happen early and that’s where we can help add real value for clients. “The next property cycle in Bristol won’t just be about how much we build, but how well we adapt what already exists.”
Harley Haddow’s approach is rooted in forging long term relationships, technical excellence and a clear focus on client objectives. Working closely with project teams from the outset, the practice supports delivery against financial, environmental and social goals while responding to the evolving demands of the built environment.
The launch of the Bristol office marks the next chapter in Harley Haddow’s growth strategy, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable engineering and long-term partnerships across the UK.
