North East housebuilder Avant Homes has acquired a 12-acre parcel of land in a desirable suburb of County Durham where it will build 59 new homes.
The £16.3m development near Burnopfield village also received planning permission from Durham County Council in February 2021.
Located off Barcusclose Lane just 10 minutes’ drive from the A1(M) and 20-minutes from Newcastle city centre, the development will feature high-quality homes across a selection of Avant Homes’ design-led three and four-bedroom housetypes. There will be 13 house designs for buyers to choose from and 15 per cent of the homes across the development will be affordable.
Following the exchange of contracts, work on the development, which is named Fairway View, is set to commence imminently. The first homes are due to go on sale at the end of February with the showhomes to follow later in the year. The first completions are expected in autumn 2021 with the overall build of Fairway View estimated to take approximately two years.
In addition to delivering new-build homes in Burnopfield, Avant Homes has also committed to a community contribution of £444,000 towards local education, the provision of open green spaces, transport links and a footpath surrounding the development.

“Burnopfield is a highly desirable location and following the huge popularity of our Causey Heights development just three miles away in Sunniside, which is selling very well, we can see there is strong demand for our product in Gateshead and surrounding areas.
“Initial groundworks will commence shortly, and we will be revealing the first homes for sale later this month.”
Located in County Durham, but on the boundary of Gateshead, Fairway View is in a desirable location overlooking Hobson Golf Course. The Burnopfield village centre is just a 10-minute walk from the development with a range of supermarkets, schools, and eateries to choose from.
