REHAU Launches New ‘Windows for Modern Living’ CPD in Response to Growing Building Regulations Queries
In response to increasing queries around building regulations governing fenestration, polymer window manufacturer REHAU has launched a new CPD for housebuilding project stakeholders illustrating key considerations in the modern windows market.
Titled ‘Windows for Modern Living,’ the latest CPD from REHAU explores the materials available to manufacture windows and doors, the Future Homes Standard and relevant regulations from the Building Safety Act 2022. This new guidance was created after REHAU experienced a 30% rise in queries concerning building regulations from project stakeholders.
Alongside delving into this important topic, the CPD goes on to cover the ‘Golden Thread’ for building safety and the fenestration priorities of homeowners and tenants, including sustainability, security and accessibility, noise reduction and aesthetics.
“Windows have a key role to play in any residential build, but we have seen plenty of questions over frame selection during the design and construction process,” explains Martin Hitchin, CEO for REHAU UK. “It’s been encouraging to see a rise in queries around ensuring frames remain compliant with existing regulations, but this also highlights a potential gap in awareness.
“It is for this reason that we developed this latest CPD for housebuilders, covering the latest legislation and occupant considerations. The requirements of the modern home and its occupant are many and varied, and window manufacturers have a key role to play in helping project stakeholders make the best possible frame selection.”
The CPD specifically explores key documentation such as the Building Regulations’ Part L, F and O – covering energy and emissions, ventilation and overheating – and fire safety under Approved Document B. It also provides more information on airtightness and the Fire Safety Act, as well as October 2023’s Building Act Updates.
“‘Windows for Modern Living’ covers a broad range of subjects including ever-changing consumer expectations when it comes to window designs and expectations, but also addresses constants such as occupant safety,” Martin concludes. “We hope architects, specifiers and contractors working on housebuilding projects find this new CPD useful and learn more about what is possible and what should be considered when selecting window frames.”
