With issues such as comfort and energy efficiency high on the wish-list for new homeowners heating controls are now a vital component of any new build. PHPD reports on the latest programmable thermostat by Honeywell, the Lyric T6.
All homeowners want to be in control of their heating system – especially so in the winter months – but often controls are less than straightforward to use, or even understand. Recently a number of new controls have hit the market promising not only greater levels of control but displays that are designed to be intuitive. Many can also integrate with other areas of the homes and help create a smart home experience.
The Lyric T6 is a next-generation programmable thermostat from Honeywell. The company describe it as an, “easy-to-install, flexible, energy efficient heating control that features all the best elements of modern technology.” The thermostat is also connected, giving homeowners the flexibility to control their comfort from wherever they are, through a dedicated Lyric app.
Energy savings
The thermostat can be managed remotely via tablet or smartphone; has integrated Wi-Fi-connectivity; uses universal icons and a touchscreen display; and offers smart energy saving features. The Lyric T6 also includes location-based temperature control (geo-fencing) to sense when the home owner is leaving or returning to the property and adjust the heating accordingly.
It is also compatible with Apple HomeKit, enabling the product to be controlled using an Apple or Android device. “With Lyric T6, we are broadening our installer’s product offering with what homeowners want and need – easy-to-use temperature control with connected features and big potential energy savings,” said Mario Moura, General Manager of Honeywell’s residential business in Europe. “Our installers can deliver the reliable heat control system with little instruction and rest assured the thermostat will perform as expected, resulting in fewer callbacks.”
Wired or wireless
The programmable thermostat can be used with any boiler or application as a room temperature control in an S Plan or Y Plan system, and it will also control under floor heating manifolds.
Available in both the wall-mounted-wired and the wireless models, Lyric T6 is suitable for new installations and features OpenTherm connectivity. The programmable thermostat includes features such as optimum start, stop, delayed-start and Time Proportional & Integral control (TPI) boiler to help drive energy efficiency savings for homeowners.
Lyric T6 provides flexible temperature control with pre-configured and customised scheduling. Many settings are available to suit the customer’s needs, such as away modes and seven-day, 5/2 day and single day combined time and temperature control with up to six time periods per day.
