Open Government Consultations
- Developer contributions reform: technical consultation – closing on 31 January 2019, this consultation on Community Infrastructure Levy draft regulations focuses on technical implementation of proposed reforms.
- Good practice on how residents and landlords work together to keep their home and building safe – following the publication of Dame Judith Hackitt’s report, Building a safer future, this call for evidence (closing on 12 February 2019) invites views on how residents and landlords/building managers work together regarding fire and structural safety.
- Technical review of Approved Document B of the building regulations – closing on 1 March 2019, this call for evidence seeks views on the future technical guidance contained within Approved Document B (fire safety) the key first step in the technical review announced in July 2018.
- Biodiversity net gain: updating planning requirements – closing on 10 February 2019, this consultation relates to proposals to make biodiversity net gain necessary for developments when granting planning permission
- Considering the case for a housing court: call for evidence – closing on 22 January 2019, the Government is seeking views to improve the experience of people using courts and tribunal services in property cases, including considering the case for a specialist Housing Court.
- Biodiversity net gain: updating planning requirements – in a consultation closing on 10 February 2019, DEFRA is seeking views on how it can improve the planning system in England to protect the environment.
- Private shared homeownership: call for proposals – closing on 1 February 2019, the Government announced in the 2018 Budget that it is inviting proposals from investors willing to collaborate with government to deliver a new wave of shared ownership homes.
- Planning reform: supporting the high street and increasing the delivery of new homes –the Government is consulting on high street planning, including a more flexible and responsive ‘change of use’ regime with new Permitted Development Rights, closing on 14 January 2019.
The Law Commission’s 13th Programme of Law Reform: Residential leasehold and commonhold
- Reinvigorating commonhold: the alternative to leasehold ownership – closing on 10 March 2019, the Law Commission’s consultation follows up on the call for evidence last year and seeks detailed responses on all aspects of commonhold.
HCLG Select Committee Inquiries
- Modern Methods of Construction – the HCLG Committee is currently seeking written responses (until 30 January 2019) for stakeholders to explain the benefits and drawbacks of using MMC techniques on their developments.
- Leasehold Reform – the HCLG Committee’s inquiry looking at the progress made on the Government’s programme of leasehold reform is ongoing. It has heard oral evidence from leaseholders, campaigners, developers and freeholders.
