National land promoter Richborough Estates has sold a 17 acre residential site in the New Forest, Hampshire, to housebuilder Bargate Homes.
Located off Everton Road, in the attractive village of Hordle, the scheme will deliver 100 new homes including affordable properties, plus over five acres of green space.
The deal has been completed just six months after the formal adoption of the New Forest District Local Plan, in which the site is allocated.
It also comes just weeks after Richborough Estates sold a major housing site in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, to Bloor Homes.
Jonathan Bloor, Managing Director (Western Division) at Richborough Estates, said: “Our unconditional sale to Bargate Homes is another sign of the strength of the housebuilding market.
“It’s also the culmination of hard work from our team on behalf of our landowners. We spent five years promoting the site through the Local Plan process before the Planning Inspector signed it off last June – after which we swiftly secured an unconditional sale to Bargate Homes.
“It’s also testament to our success in securing southern-focused sites in England – with further sites in the near and mid-term pipeline.
“This is our first sale to Bargate Homes, and they have been exemplary to deal with. As a quality housebuilder in Hampshire and the South, I’m sure they will deliver a fantastic development in this sought-after New Forest location.”
Steve Birch, Land Director at Bargate Homes, added: “Bargate Homes, together with our parent company, VIVID, are delighted to have secured this excellent development opportunity.
“Bargate Homes’ focus is always to create beautiful homes in beautiful locations . We now look forward to preparing a thoughtfully-designed scheme comprising new homes for sale and affordable properties, together with ample green space for the community to enjoy”.
