Planning submitted for 92 new homes in Redditch

A planning application has been submitted to Redditch Borough Council for the provision of up to 92 new homes adjacent to the Alexandra Hospital.

SevenHomes, the regional housebuilder by SevenCapital Group, acquired the 5.85-acre site, named Wire Croft, from the NHS in July last year. The sale means that the capital raised can be freed up and injected back into the NHS to help fund much needed services.

Subject to approval, Wire Croft will feature a mix of one-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses, with a gross development value of £25 million.

The site also sits adjacent to the popular Wirehill Wood and benefits from being located just a short five-minute drive or bus ride into Redditch town centre and train station, which offers a direct train into Birmingham city centre.

Matthew Hopkins, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “As part of our commitment to putting patients first, we have a duty to make the best use of all the resources available to us, including our hospital sites. The sale of this land, which is surplus to our requirements for clinical developments on the site, will provide us with capital funding to reinvest in further improvements to the services we provide for our patients at the Alexandra Hospital.”

SevenHomes Managing Director, Jonathan Richards, added: “Following the success of The Copse, our last development in Redditch, I’m pleased we have been able to put forward an application for the redevelopment of this site so quickly. Our plans will completely and positively transform the area around the Alexandra Hospital, and knowing that the Capital receipt from the land purchase is being invested back into the NHS and Alexandra Hospital itself is very important to us at SevenHomes.

“With its proximity to the hospital and connectivity to the main town centre and Birmingham city centre, the site offers a fantastic location for good quality, modern family homes. I look forward to the application being accepted and SevenHomes getting to work on delivering this exciting and much-needed new development for families in Redditch.”
