The former BMX track in Malvern is to be transformed into a 50-home development.
Malvern Hills District Council granted permission for the proposed development on land at Townsend Way after Harris Lamb submitted plans on behalf of Lovell Partnership.
The affordable housing development is to be provided on behalf of a Registered Provider.
John Pearce of Harris Lamb’s planning team said: “We have been involved with this site for some time, having been instructed by Worcestershire County Council and Place Partnership Ltd to market the 4.84-acre plot in 2017.
“The site had been allocated for housing in the adopted South Worcestershire Development Plan, and further to being acquired by Lovell Partnership, we were tasked with obtaining permission to proceed with the construction of 50 of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties on its behalf.
“There is a well-documented requirement for additional housing throughout Worcestershire, and we are delighted to have secured permission for a development that will provide high-quality, affordable homes in the region.”
Steve Ulfig, Regional Technical Director at Lovell Partnership, said: “We are thrilled to have been given the green light to advance our proposals for this development.
“This is a well-positioned site that has been disused for some time and lends itself perfectly to a development of this scale. There is a high demand for new homes within Malvern, and we’re excited to be able to assist in meeting that need.”
Construction at the site is expected to commence in Spring 2020.
