Living Space Housing restarts construction work at £12m residential development near Malvern.
Solihull-based Living Space Housing has restarted construction work at its flagship Malvern Oaks development in Cradley, on the outskirts of Malvern, Herefordshire, which is being developed in conjunction with leading affordable housing provider Stonewater.
All work on site was paused at the end of March due to the Covid-19 lockdown. Work has now resumed and roof coverings are being put in place on the first tranche of homes at the £12million mixed-tenure housing scheme.
To ensure all staff, contractors and visitors can work safely while the Covid-19 lockdown continues, Living Space Housing has produced a Safe Operating Procedure. It has been compiled with Government and Construction Leadership Council guidance and is already in operation at Living Space’s other live sites in Kidderminster and Telford.
The Malvern Oaks scheme comprises 51 two, three and four-bedroom family homes, together with a new playground. 19 of the homes will be for sale on the open market later this year. The development is in a scenic rural location, benefitting from dramatic views over the Malvern Hills.
Steve Davies, Managing Director of Living Space Housing said: “Due to the rural location of this development and supply chain constraints, it was the final one in our portfolio where construction has now resumed, amid the Covid-19 lockdown.
“I am delighted that we are now back on site at all of our housing schemes, working in accordance with our robust Safe Operating Procedure. We have been hard at work acquiring more land and are now preparing new site starts, as it is apparent the need for affordable housing has never been greater.”
Living Space is a development-led residential planning, design and construction services solution for Registered Providers, PRS Funds, the NHS, Universities and Defence Estates. Having launched to the market last year, the company already has a total of 357 residential plots under control across the Midlands, representing a combined construction value in excess of £41million.
Providing an end-to-end service to Registered Providers (RPs) enables them to deliver more homes with greater efficiency. Living Space takes care of land, planning, design, build and development. It can also assist RPs by delivering open market homes in order to help with a scheme’s viability. This enables Living Space’s clients to be able to focus on the funding and management of high-quality homes for their residents.
Living Space’s other two live development sites comprise 48 homes located at the former Victoria Carpets Sports Ground in Kidderminster, which is also being delivered for Stonewater, and 26 homes located off Britannia Way in central Telford, Shropshire.
