Housebuilder Profile | Webster Homes

Now launching its fourth development in Kinross, Webster Homes is seeking to build a reputation in Scotland in both bespoke developments and house building.

Daniel Webster, a joiner from Kinross, launched Webster Developments in 2011 with the intention of delivering turnkey properties to private clients. By 2014, using the expertise built up in this sector, he decided to establish a private housebuilding division, Webster Homes.

Recently, Webster Homes announced the launch of its fourth multi million pound development, at Gairneybank, Kinross. The development of five contemporary, high specification homes, each with four bedrooms and two en-suites, follows on from the company’s previous developments in Cupar and Crook of Devon.

“We’re delighted to be at development number four with Webster Homes,” said Daniel Webster. “Establishing Webster Homes was a natural progression from Webster Developments, it made sense to establish our own division specialising in the top end of the market.”

Buyer’s choice
To ensure flexibility for prospective buyers, at Gairneybank they can also select from a choice of two different layouts. Housetype One is available with two en-suite bedrooms, with Housetype Two offering three. Plots one, four and five have integral double garages with a Games Room above. Plots two and three have large detached triple garages with attic trusses. Webster homes is willing to incorporate a separate apartment or studio above the triple garage if required – ideal for those who may work from home, or require a stand-alone guest suite.

“Gairneybank is a fantastic and well situated location,” continued Daniel. “Our high specification homes, which can now be reserved from plan, offer the flexibility of either an additional Games Room or a separate apartment. We are confident that they will appeal strongly to our market sector of discerning buyers looking for a luxury property with a rural feel, coupled with the best commuting links possible.”

All of the properties at Gairneybank are complete with a spacious lounge, separate family room and dining room, utility room and fully fitted luxury kitchen with integrated appliances. There is a high specification throughout, with extras such as a wood burning stove in the lounge included as standard. All bedrooms have fully fitted wardrobes and there is underfloor heating in the bathroom and kitchen areas.

Buyers can choose their kitchens, bathrooms, tiling and flooring. All skirtings, facings and doors are oak, with a choice of oak or solid white timber doors, plus a choice of handles.

To complement their internal appeal, the properties have also been designed to have a striking exterior look. Features include slate roofs, an arched porch entrance, and Juliet balconies. Design throughout is to maximise light and space.

The company has also ensured its properties have been constructed with the very latest energy efficient materials, and with solar panels included. Outside, buyers will find private gardens with turf, planting and patios.

Daniel Webster noted: “We are fast becoming known for a high quality specification, together with stand-out design which gives a really individual look to our properties. We give our buyers flexibility and the opportunity to put their own stamp on the property. As we release our properties from plan, they can work with us to create the home of their dreams, whether, as in the case of this development, it is opting for a separate apartment above the triple garage, or having a stunning Games Room for many years of enjoyment.”

Webster HomesSelf-storage
But it is not solely the new homes market in which Daniel is involved. He also has a number of subsidiary companies under the Webster banner, including a self-storage company, a hot air ballooning venture, and a company promoting local honey. But how did all these come about?

Daniel explained that in the course of his work with private clients, who often had storage needs whilst waiting to move house, he spotted a gap in the market for a new self-storage company. Hence, in 2014, Webster Storage was born. “It’s a vibrant sector and we’re attracting attention with our bright orange signage displayed by the side of the M90 motorway just before Kinross,” said Daniel. The company has forty six units suitable for both personal and business customers, while planning permission has been secured for another twenty.

Daniel is also looking to add an eco-friendly office alongside its storage business located on Bridgend Industrial Estate in Kinross. He said: “We’re also adding ten additional eco-friendly office pods to the mix, which will be offered to the market for small businesses, entrepreneurs, creative partnerships… the sky’s the limit. On a personal level, everything is in the one location for me, so I can keep an eye on the storage firm and all other interests as all divisions grow.”

Honey, honey, honey
As for the local honey, Webster Honey now has over 178 hives all over Scotland, and promotes education about bees to youngsters. “The honey came about when we were working out more ways to become more eco-friendly, and the need for bees emerged,” Daniel said. “I enjoy having many diverse platforms to develop, it keeps it fresh for me, and I believe that each sector of the Webster Group has potential, exploiting many current trends.”

As for Webster Adventures, the ballooning business, “it was started as a fun opportunity to do something different, flying the balloon all over the world,” said Daniel.
