Dorset Council has approved plans by Wyatt Homes on land northeast of Blandford Forum. The plans sought full consent for 150 homes and outline planning permission for a further 340 on a site adjoining the A354 and A350.

The project will also provide new pedestrian and cycle connections and 30% of the homes will be affordable. Wyatt also plans to plant over 2,000 new trees throughout the site and more than 40 acres of public open space will make up nearly 50% of the development.

The new homes will prioritise energy efficiency and use advanced technologies to minimise CO­₂ emissions. This includes high levels of insulation, top-tier glazing, solar PV panels, wastewater heat recovery and heat pumps.

Furthermore, this development will set aside land for a potential future school, allotments, a community hall, shops, and play facilities. It will also establish new cycling and pedestrian pathways and improve bus infrastructure, with upgraded stops and the possibility of extending existing routes.

First homes at the Quakers Walk development in Devizes, by Bellway, will be delivered later in the year.

Plans to build 123 homes in Devizes have been approved by Wiltshire Council. Housebuilder Bellway has now commenced construction work on land off Quakers Walk, with the first homes due to be completed later this year.

The development will be known as Quakers Walk and will include a range of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties, as well as areas of public space.

Christel Hawkins, Sales Manager at Bellway South West, said: “We are naturally pleased to have received planning permission for our Quakers Walk development.  There is a growing demand for new homes in Wiltshire and we are committed to helping meet this need.

“We have worked closely with the local planning authority to ensure we deliver a range of homes to suit people on all stages of the property ladder, from first-time buyers and downsizers to growing families.

Latest research shows that new build developers are drawing on nature and ‘country life’ for inspiration, as  ‘Park’, ‘Green’ and ‘Gardens’ top the builders’ choice of titles for their new developments.

The research conducted by My Home Move, a leading provider of mover conveyancing services, looked at over 400 developments from the UK’s top five housebuilders, to discover that when it comes to bricks and mortar, a name which evokes a sense of natural beauty and heritage appears to prove more popular than an urban inspired moniker.
