Housebuilder, Owl Homes has announced it has commenced construction on a trio of new developments, bringing 169 new homes across Leicestershire and Gloucestershire.

Housebuilder, Honey will build 275 new homes in Duckmanton after being granted planning permission for a £78m development.

Called Pearl, it will feature 18 of Honey’s different house types, including terrace, semidetached and detached properties. The 41-acre site has been allocated for development by Chesterfield Borough Council as part of the Chesterfield local plan to deliver 4,080 homes by 2035.

Nottingham-based Infinity Homes has secured a £1m funding facility to deliver the company’s first development which will be located off Holmgate Road in Clay Cross.  

The development will comprise five three-bedroom bungalows and, once complete, will have a gross development value of £1.6m. 

The £1m funding facility has been secured by Infinity Homes from merchant banking group Close Brothers.  

A team from law firm Gordons, led by partner and head of residential development, Michael Finnett, advised Infinity Homes on obtaining the facility.  

Work started on site in January, with the first residents expected to move into their new homes this August. 

Infinity Homes director, Joshua Greveson, said: “It’s fantastic to have secured this facility to deliver our development. Michael and the team at Gordons are highly experienced in securing funding for residential developers, so they were able to expertly navigate the funding process for us. 

“We know there is strong demand for new bungalows within Clay Cross, particularly of the type that we are building and with the specification we have. We’ve already made a great start on site having received our first plot reservation and sales interest in the remaining available plots.”

Bancon Homes has opened a show home at its Queens Gate development in Strathaven, South Lanarkshire. Designer Contracts says the show home uses ‘a palette of black and white throughout to create a timeless contemporary look’.

All 120 homes at Whittle Brook Park at Anwyl Homes’ development at Whittle Brook Park, Heywood, Lancs will be equipped with air source heat pumps and other energy-efficient features such as wider cavities to external walls, solar panels, electric vehicle charging points, and improved air tightness and insulation.

Bargate Homes has been granted planning permission from the New Forest District Council for an initial plan to construct up to 110 new residences on a plot of 15.8 acres (6.4 hectares) in the coastal village of Pennington, Hampshire.

Bargate will now draft a Reserved Matters application for a selection of energy-efficient, EPC-rated homes, ranging from one to four bedrooms. Some 63% of the land area will be committed to habitat conservation and the creation of public open spaces.

Half of these homes will be turned over to Vivid – the parent company of Bargate Homes – to be utilized as affordable housing. Bargate’s design includes numerous distinct plots for development, each fronting green space, trees, and plant life. Overall, the project promises a 10% net increase in biodiversity.

Proposals include three unique clusters of housing, each characterized by their distinctive features and details. Based on Bargate Homes’ local area study, Pennington predominantly features red brick, render, and stained timber cladding buildings, adorned with arched brick headers, red roof tiles, window glazing bars, and chimneys on distinctive residences.

Bargate Homes has begun work on its latest development, Norton Chase, in the East Hampshire village of Lovedean.

Spanning a 2.61ha site that straddles the boundary of East Hampshire and Havant, the project will feature 43 homes comprising a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments and houses. Some 40% of these will be affordable housing.

The £13 million Norton Chase scheme is expected to be completed within approximately 22 months. This development serves as a sister project to Norton Heights, previously completed by Bargate Homes in 2018.

Positioned near Lovedean village centre, the homes in Norton Chase will be aiming for a high EPC – B rating. Key features include mixed recycling points for each house, both external and internal storage facilities, and enhanced air tightness specifications to ensure optimal energy-saving performance in compliance with current Building Regulations. The initial batch of homes is expected to be ready for occupancy by the end of 2023.

Sited near Lovedean Lane, the development will be set in 0.81ha of public open space that incorporate green buffer zones to preserve and enhance local wildlife corridors. Native tree and shrub planting will also contribute to the well-being of local bird populations. The site will include a combination of private and public open spaces, incorporating various enclosures to delineate the different areas.

The architectural design of the dwellings in Norton Chase reflects the local topography. Utilizing a single facing brick, with the addition of an alternative brick to introduce contrasting elements in houses with traditional detailing, the development achieves a harmonious blend. Select homes, particularly those positioned at key and corner locations, will benefit from flint elevations, providing visual variety and clarity to the street scene. The roofs will exhibit a simple form, characterized by reduced eaves and dormers in the primary elevations. Gables will be sparingly employed in larger dwellings, adding contrast and visual interest, in line with the architectural style prevalent in the esteemed neighbouring Norton Heights development.
