Steven McGill Joins EAP as Head of Pipelines

Energy Assets Pipelines (EAP), a fast-growing Independent Gas Transporter, has appointed Steven McGill as Head of Pipelines to support its business expansion strategy.

EAP adopts, owns and manages local gas distribution networks for new build housing schemes and industrial and commercial projects, working in partnership with Utility Infrastructure Providers (UIPs) and developers. The company has grown rapidly since its launch in 2018, thanks to its competitive asset valuations and its investment in customer-facing services.

Steven has more than 30 years’ experience in the gas industry, having worked in a wide variety of roles, including as a gas distribution engineer, distribution technician and network supervisor. Most recently, he was Head of Operations & Specialist Operations in Scotland for a UIP, leading on high value projects and specialist technical works. As such, he is a well-known and much respected figure in the gas utilities sector.

This expertise will be invaluable in Steven’s new role, as he applies his experience to local gas network adoption, working alongside UIPs to ensure the design and construction integrity of gas infrastructure.

Jayson Whitaker, Managing Director of Energy Assets Networks, Pipelines and Fibre, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Steven in this strategic role to support our ambitious growth plans and help us develop ‘final mile’ opportunities that will encompass the decarbonisation of heat.”

Said Steven: “Energy Assets enjoys a reputation for innovation and technical excellence across all its activities, so I am very much looking forward to playing my part in growing the Pipelines’ portfolio of gas networks under ownership.

“For me, this is an exciting career change that enables me to use my experience in the gas industry, and the relationships I have developed over the last 30 years, to support the company’s exciting plans for the future.”

In addition to providing a flexible approach to asset adoption, Energy Assets has invested heavily in in-house technical, legal and administrative expertise to support the work of contractors, housebuilders and industrial and commercial developers. This includes the recent launch of the Milestone Legal Progress Tracker, the first online project administration and customer communication portal of its kind in the connections industry, enabling clients to see the status of their projects at a glance, at any time.
