Sigma appoints new partner Seddon for the delivery of 63 family homes for rent in Stoke-on-Trent

Main construction work has started on a brand new development of 63 family homes for private rent in Stoke-on-Trent.

Sigma Capital Group has appointed Seddon to build the £7.8 million scheme, which will be marketed to families. All properties will be brought to market under Sigma’s private rental brand, Simple Life, which currently has over 2,200 build to rent homes across the country.

Located off Newport Lane in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Stanley Park will see the transformation of derelict, brownfield land into a community of two and three-bedroom family properties.

The 63 mews-style houses – available solely for private rent – will benefit from shared drives, public open space and landscaping.

A proportion of funding for the development was provided by Homes England and Stoke-on-Trent City Council via the National Housing Infrastructure Fund.

Once home to the former Wood and Sons and Stanley Potteries, the site has been fully remediated and now a 79 week construction programme is underway by Seddon, adhering to coronavirus safety measures on-site.

Work on the new homes began in April 2020. Due to recent circumstances, representatives from both partners were able to get together for a socially distanced sod-cutting ceremony on 8th September.

Rob Moore, business unit director at Seddon, said: “We always aim to build the kind of homes people aspire to live in, where they can create a life for themselves. It’s great to help Simple Life bring Stanley Park to life.

“Once completed, this will be a new neighbourhood, with excellent community facilities nearby; a place where families can thrive. We can’t wait to see the first tenants move into their brand new homes.”

Jason Berry, managing director at Sigma Capital Group, said: “We’re really excited to be working with Seddon to launch our Simple Life homes in a new area for us. This is a landmark site, marking our first-time partnership with Seddon. We’re really looking forward to seeing this collaboration go from strength to strength, delivering high quality rental homes across the North West & Midlands.”

Comprising two to four-bedroom houses and apartments, Simple Life homes are delivered through Sigma’s property platform, which comprises housebuilding partners, local authorities and Homes England.

Simple Life developments are situated to become integral parts of the broader community, bringing new people into the area and helping to build on and enhance local connections.

Stanley Park is well served by primary and secondary schools, including St Nathaniel’s Academy, North Road Academy and Fountain Bridge Academy.

With Longport Station approximately a 10 minute walk away, Stanley Park residents will have direct access to Stoke city centre, Crewe, Manchester and Derby. Alternatively, the nearby M6 offers links to the Birmingham metropolitan area and beyond.

The final phase of Stanley Park will be built by Seddon for Stoke-on-Trent City Council, in line with its affordable housing planning policy. Plans for this phase will create a further 36 affordable homes, are currently being finalised.
