Old Colwyn housing development to be extended as planning given green light

Macbryde Homes has confirmed that it has secured planning permission to commence Phase 2 of its Bryn Y Mor housing development on Dolwen Road, Old Colwyn. Work is anticipated to start on site by the summer.

The approved plans outline how 22 homes will be built to expand the firm’s existing development of 76 homes and will be comprised of a mix of two- and three-bedroom semi-detached homes and three- and four-bedroom detached properties. Like those already built, it is anticipated that the homes will be particularly attractive to local first-time buyers, young professionals and growing families. Four of the properties will be designated as affordable and a Section 106 financial contributions will be made towards local facilities.

Commenting on the successful planning application, Simon Finlay, Head of Development at Macbryde Homes, said: “We have enjoyed significant interest across all our current and recent developments in North Wales and demand remains incredibly high. We are, therefore, delighted to now be able to move forward on extending our already popular Bryn Y Mor development.

“The extension to this existing site is fully compliant with local planning policies and will make a significant contribution to the local housing supply.”

The properties will all be two-stories high and have been designed to sit comfortably within the context of the local built environment.
