Milton Keynes development receives top marks from two major industry bodies

Saxon Reach, a new development by L&Q in Milton Keynes, has been awarded two major construction industry accolades, picking up a ‘Certificate of Excellence’ by the Considerate Constructors Scheme, as well as a 95% in the Construction Quality Review, carried out by the NHBC.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a not-for-profit, independent organisation founded in 1997, playing an invaluable role in improving the image, performance and best practice in the construction industry. The review assesses the application of The Code of Considerate practise, which commits sites to focus on appearance, environment, safety and workforce value.

Described in the Considerate Constructors Scheme report as an “exceptional project demonstrating that with commitment and drive the company and schemes values can provide and promote the best for all”, the development was praised for its ongoing work supporting the local community. The site’s partnership with the Milton Keynes YMCA has seen L&Q award the local group £5,000 for a physical activity programme through Sport England, as well as a £10,000 grant through the L&Q Counties Place Makers Scheme. The Saxon Reach team also offer support to local schools and colleges through apprenticeships and work experience, whilst also holding educational workshops at nearby schools.

Saxon Reach was also recently awarded an overall score of 95% in the Construction Quality Review carried out by the NHBC. The review is an independent, site-based review of the quality of construction, undertaken by a subject expert. L&Q’s Saxon Reach received a number of ‘Outstanding’ reviews on site, including the finishing aspects with all homes, demonstrating L&Q’s New-Build Homes: Quality Standard promise, a commitment to delivering premium fixtures, fittings and appliances as standard; at no additional cost to the buyer.

Ryan Burgess, Construction Manager at Saxon Reach, comments “Driven by a social purpose, we work hard to offer our support to the community, delivering initiatives and reaching out to local groups. We are pleased to be recognised for this, and our high quality of build at Saxon Reach.’

Saxon Reach will ultimately deliver 225 high quality homes in the form of one to five bedroom homes available through Shared Ownership and Help to Buy, creating a thriving new district on the outskirts of Milton Keynes. Part of the wider Glebe Farm development area, a growing new residential quarter for Milton Keynes, which will meet the demands of the budding town. Glebe Farm will deliver new retail and commercial facilities, and an extension of the Milton Keynes Redway system – a 200-mile network of shared use paths for cyclists and pedestrians. Perfect for families, the site will also be home to a new school – welcoming children from primary age up to the end of secondary school.
